Denison went 1-2 at a quad meet hosted by The University of Chicago. The Big Red defeated the host Maroons, 170-124 but fell to Division I opponents, University of Illinois-Chicago (151-149) and Northwestern University (222-78).
DU's top finish came from Ben Lewis on the one-meter board. Lewis posted a six-dive score of 289.05 to finish second. Brian Allen followed in fifth place at 243.45 while Nathan Lightman placed eighth with a score of 201.15.
On the 3-meter board, Brian Allen placed third at 275.70 while Lightman and Lewis finished sixth and seventh, respectively at 248.85 and 242.55.
In the pool, Stuart Hohm and Jack Lindell each placed third in an event to lead the Denison swimmers. Hohm led a trio of Big Red competitors in the 500 freestyle. Hohm took third in 4:51.62 while Matt Hedman and Walter Dauksher finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the 200 backstroke, Lindell took third with a time of 1:56.04. Jason Wesseling took seventh in 1:57.55
Max Howes logged three, top-six finishes on the day. He took fourth in the 200 free (1:45.17) and sixth in the 100 free (48.17). He was also a member of the third place 400 free relay team along with Ryan Fleming, Conrad Wuorinen and Kenny Fox. That team touched in 3:10.24.
Other top finishers for Denison included Ben Burdick in the 1,000 free (4th – 10:11.82), Wesseling in the 100 back (4th – 52.89), Fleming in the 50 freestyle (4th – 21.83), Andrew Rich in the 100 fly (5th – 52.26) and Lindell in the 200 IM (4th – 1:58.67).
The Big Red will return to action on Nov. 6 when they take on Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
