Box Score Kenyon's Maggie Smith scored via a chip shot from the top of the 18-yard box 2:06 into the second overtime, helping the Ladies to a 1-0 victory over the Denison Big Red from Mavec Field in Gambier, Ohio.
With just four seconds remaining in the first overtime period, Denison nearly broke the stalemate when Jacquie Graham put a shot on-goal that forced Kenyon keeper Alissa Poolpol to dive and make a difficult save.
The first shot attempt of the second overtime would be the game-winner by Smith after she took a pass from Gillian Blackwell. Smith settled the ball and chipped it toward the goal where the ball would go just over the head of DU keeper, Jenny Herold for the score.
Kenyon held a 13-9 advantage in shots while Denison held a 6-4 lead in corner kicks. There were 21 fouls called in the match, with 11 flagged against the Big Red. Herold ended with three saves while Poolpol posted four saves for Kenyon.
The loss drops Denison to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Kenyon improves to 10-5 and 4-1 in league play. DU will look to bounce back next Saturday, Oct. 24, when they host DePauw at 3 p.m.
