The 2015-16 Denison swimming & diving season got underway on Saturday with the annual Kenyon Swimming Relays and Denison Diving Relays. The Big Red finished in second place with 116 points.
Denison got a first-place finish in the swimming relays as Alec Carlson, Jacob Ball, Andrew Rich and Ryan Fleming combined for a winning time of 1:34.40 in the 200 medley relay.
DU's other victory came in the 200 breaststroke relay as Ryan Stevenson, Brendan Howley, Ball and Joe Brunk touched in 1:49.14 for the win.
Back in Granville, Denison's divers placed 1-2 on both boards. In the 1-meter competition, Ben Lewis and Max Levy combined for a score of 550.50 to edge teammates Brian Allen and Nathan Lightman. Lewis led all 1-meter divers with a six-dive score of 281.15. Levy followed in 269.35. Allen posted the third-best score on the 1-meter board with a total of 250.95. Lightman followed at 233.70.
On the 3-meter board, Levy recorded a score of 316.60 and Allen checked in with a 269.70 for a winning total of 586.30. Lewis and Lightman were second with a total of 488.65.
Denison will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 24, when they take on Northwestern, Illinois and the University of Chicago, in Chicago, Ill.
