Carnegie Mellon no match for DU

Denison won 12 events and Jack Lindell was a four-time winner as the Big Red streaked to a 174-95 victory over Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.  The victory sets the stage for Denison's final dual meet of the 2014-15 season, next Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.

Lindell chalked up victories in all four races on Saturday.  He led off the meet with Al Nennig, Andrew Rich and Ryan Fleming with a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:32.79.  Lindell won the 100 backstroke in 51.67 and took the top spot in the 200 back in 1:51.57.  He would close out his day with a victory in the 400 IM after a time of 4:02.34.

Ryan Fleming swept the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 21.21 and 46.12, respectively.  Max Howes would place second in the 100 free in 46.72 while Conrad Wuorinen was the runner-up to Fleming in the 50 (21.36).

In the 100 butterfly, Rich was the winner with a time of 50.71 and Stuart Hohm ended up a two-time victor after winning the 200 and 500 freestyles.  Hohm covered the 500 free in 4:36.02 and won the 200 free in 1:42.31.  Third-place in both events went to Franz KabelkaBen Burdick came in second in the 500 free in 4:44.97.

In the breaststroke events, Nennig and Damon Rosenburg held court.  Nennig was the winner in the 200 with a time of 2:09.55, while Rosenburg won the 100 in 57.35.

The 400 free relay team comprised of Fleming, Wuorinen, Rosenburg and Howes cruised to a five second win after a time of 3:04.16,

The only swimming event Denison didn't win was the 200 butterfly, however it did result in a season-best 'B' cut time for senior Dan Hellman who hit the wall in 1:52.53 to place second. 

The diving was non-scoring exhibition but Connor Dignan fared well on both boards.  Dignan totaled 396.80 on the 1-meter board and followed with 328.88 on the 3-meter.  Ben Lewis had the second-highest total on both boards, amassing 299.48 on the 1-meter and 323.55 on the 3-meter.
