DU earns 10th win against Scots

The Denison men's tennis team got back in the win column on Thursday with a 9-0 victory over the College of Wooster.  With the win, the Big Red improves to 10-5, while the Fighting Scots fall to 8-7.

DU did a little shifting in their doubles lineup with the absence of the No. 1 team of Juan Guerra and Grant VeltmanCasey Cempre and Andrew Marczak successfully filled the void at the top flight with an 8-4 victory over Harrison Suttle and Jacob Pine.  Jackson O'Gorman-Bean and Jeffrey LoDuca moved up from their usual spot at third doubles to earn an 8-4 decision at No. 2.  Freshmen Ryan Bibo and Steve Smykal improved to 2-0 at a team following an 8-2 victory over Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins.

In singles action, the Big Red won all six flights via straight-set decisions.  Marczak picked up his 15th win of the season after cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Willy Nelson.  Cempre notched his team-leading 16th singles victory of the season over Suttle (6-2, 6-2), while Veltman was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Landon Moore.  O'Gorman-Bean (6-0, 7-5), Owen Smith (6-4, 6-1) and Ben Short (6-3, 7-5) completed the sweep with wins at fourth through sixth singles, respectively.

Denison (10-5) will close the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday (April 15) when against North Coast Athletic Conference West Division foe Wittenberg.  Match time is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
