Denison routs Oberlin by 34

Darius White scored 26 points and tied the Denison school record with eight 3-pointers helping the Big Red roll to a 90-56 win over Oberlin College from Philips Gymnasium.  Denison shot 58 percent from the field and were 13-of-23 from beyond the arc.

The Big Red jumped out to a 43-24 halftime lead behind 15 first half points from White.  Five of his eight 3-pointers came in the opening 20 minutes.  In that first half, DU outrebounded Oberlin 21-9 while shooting 15-of-27 (.556) from the field.

The Big Red would erase any thoughts of a Yeomen comeback in the first five minutes of the second half as they opening the period on a 19-3 run powered by three more triples from White.

Denison led by as many as 36 and the large lead would allow DU's bench to get some extended time over the final nine minutes of the contest.

While White paced the squad by going 9-of-13 from the field and 8-of-12 from deep.  His eight 3-pointers tied the Denison record set by Tony Price on Dec. 16, 2000 against Wabash College.  Briggs King scored 15 points while Brad Woolard added 12 and Bret Woolard chipped in 11.  Brad Woolard led Denison with seven rebounds.  As a team, Denison controlled the glass, outrebounding Oberlin 43-21.

Oberlin got 14 points from Nathan Cohen and nine points off the bench from Ian Campbell.  The Yeomen fall to 4-4 and 2-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference while Denison improves to 6-2 and 2-1 in conference play.

Denison will hit the road on Saturday (Dec. 13) for a key conference game at Wittenberg University.  Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
