Denison's women's swimmers and divers completed their two-day double dual meet against NCAA Division I competitors, Ohio State and Princeton on Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Denison lost to the Buckeyes 284-69 and fell to Princeton, 251-93.
DU ended with six, top-5 performances at the meet, led by Campbell Costley's third-place showing in the 500 yard freestyle. Costley hit the wall in 5:04.93. She was also a part of Denison's second-place 400 freestyle relay. She led-off with a 54.51 split only to be followed by Carolyn Kane's 52.55 split in the second leg. Rima Jurjus covered her 100 yards in 53.43 while Rima Jurjus anchored in 53.33. Denison's time of 3:33.82 was second only to Princeton's winning time of 3:27.31.
The meet, which was split between Friday and Saturday, kicked off on Friday night with the 200 free relay. Taylor Lifka, Maggie Pyett, Molly Willingham and Michelle Howell placed fifth in 1:39.43.
In the medley relay's DU would post a pair of fifth-place finishes. The 400 saw Kane, Marissa Bednarek, Ashley Yearwood and Willingham turn in a time of 3:59.72. In the 200 they subbed in Jurjus for Willingham and touched in 1:48.13.
Freshman Ellen Higdon placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.54. In the two diving events, Sarah Lopez paced the Big Red with eighth-place finishes on both boards. She totaled a score of 179.45 on the 3-meter and 162.46 on the 1-meter.
Denison will return to action next Saturday (Nov. 15) when they host North Coast Athletic Conference rival, Kenyon College, at 11 a.m.
