Lords win dual at Denison

In the annual battle between national powerhouses, the Kenyon Lords picked up a 170-130 victory over Big Red at the Trumbull Aquatics Center in Granville, Ohio.

Despite the setback, Denison notched five victories against Kenyon in their final home meet in 2014.

The trio of senior Dan Hellman, junior Ryan Fleming and freshman Stuart Hohm combined for a trio of victories in the pool on Saturday. Hellman earned DU's first win of the afternoon in the 200 butterfly. The senior completed the race in 1:55.77, 23 hundredths of a second ahead of freshman teammate Aaron Saccurato (1:56.00).

Fleming was victorious in the 100 freestyle after touching the wall in 46.34. Hohm picked up his win in the 500 free after finishing the race in 4:38.63. The Big Red freshman touched almost four seconds ahead of second-place David Perez of Kenyon. Hohm also had a runner-up performance in the 1,000-meter event with a time of 9:38.09.

For the second-straight year, senior diver Connor Dignan swept the diving events against Kenyon. Dignan posted a score of 371.10 on the 3-meter board and a score of 337.58 in the 1-meter event. Sophomore Max Levy took second on both boards with scores of 312.53 and 315.60 in the 3-meter and 1-meter events, respectively. Sophomore Brian Allen and junior Ben Lewis rounded out the top-three spots. Allen scored 311.48 points on the 3-meter board, while Lewis scored 302.03 in the 1-meter event.

The Big Red also posted provisional qualifying times in the 100 breast and 200 backstroke events. Senior Damon Rosenburg's time of 57.30 garnered him second in the 100 breast, while Jack Lindell finished runner-up in the 200 back with a mark of 1:51.81.

Denison will take a one-month break from competition before returning at the Miami University Invitational on Dec. 4-6.
