Box Score Denison scored twice in the first half and added four more in the second, resulting in a commanding 6-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan from the Jay Martin Soccer Complex in Delaware, Ohio.
The Big Red scored its first two goals of the match in rapid-fire succession Anne Denz crossed a ball from the right side of the field to the head of Ashlyn Flaherty who finished for the score. Just 1:05 later, Meg Wozniak scored her fifth goal of the season on an unassisted shot that banked off an OWU defender.
The two teams went into the intermission with Denison leading 2-0 and that's how the score would remain until the 73rd minute. From the 46th minute until the 73rd, DU would take nine shots.
The scoring drought would end when Wozniak notched her second goal of the match by beating Battling Bishop goalkeeper Rachel Charles and finishing with an empty net.
Five minutes later, the Big Red would take a 4-0 lead when Grace Murray scored her first goal of the season thanks to assists from Jessica Skelly and Caitlin Cheverine.
In the 81st minute, Flaherty notched her second tally on a shot from outside the 18-yard box that found the lower corner of the goal. The Big Red's final goal of the night came two minutes after Flaherty's score when Andrea Witte booted in her fifth goal of the season thanks to an assist by Cheverine.
Denison dominated the offensive pace, outshooting Ohio Wesleyan 37-5. The Big Red attempted 11 corner kicks while forcing OWU's Charles to make six saves.
Wozniak led all players with 12 shots. Witte took attempted eight shots, while Flaherty and Skelly both took five shots apiece. Denison goalkeeper Jenny Herold turned in two saves in 90 minutes.
The Big Red improves to 10-5 and 4-2 in the NCAC while Ohio Wesleyan drops to 1-11-2 and 0-5 in conference play. Denison returns home for Senior Day ono Saturday (Oct. 25) when they take on Case Western Reserve at 5 p.m.
