The Denison men's swimming & diving team combined for nine top-two performances, including three event victories, en route to a second-place finish at the Kenyon Swimming Relays and Denison Diving Relays on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red totaled 112 points, finishing 12 tallies behind Kenyon.
DU's lone swimming victory came in the 200-yard breast relay where Al Nennig, Damon Rosenburg, Brendan Howley and Joe Brunk combined for a meet-record time of 1:46.39.
The other two wins came at the Denison Diving Relays held at the Trumbull Aquatics Center in Granville, Ohio. Senior Connor Dignan helped propel the Big Red to victories on both boards. Dignan along with sophomore Max Levy combined for 628.40 points on the 3-meter board, topping teammates Ben Lewis and Brian Allen by 113 points. Dignan finished with an event-best 325.40 points, while Levy's 303 points ranked second. In the 1-meter event, Dignan and Lewis posted the top-two scores en route to the victory. Dignan once again topped the scoring with 328.05 points, while Lewis posted a score of 278.05 in six dives.
In addition to DU's three victories, junior Conrad Wuorinen and freshman Alec Carlson were part of four second-place performances. The duo were both part of the 200 medley relay (1:34.72) with Nennig and freshman Liam Marsden-Readford, the 500 crescendo relay (4:05.13) alongside Ryan Fleming and Stuart Hohm, and the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.28) with Fleming and freshman Victor Lowe. Wuorinen along with Andrew Rich, Ben Snader and Jack Lindell finished runner-up in the 200 fly relay with a time of 1:33.14, while Carlson, Lindell, Brunk and Rich touched second in the 400 IM relay at 3:37.06.
The final swimming event of the day was a co-ed 200 medley relay. The Denison team of Carolyn Kane, Rosenburg, Ashley Yearwood and Wuorinen posted the second-fastest time of 1:40.74.
The Big Red returns to action next Saturday (Oct. 25) when they welcome the University of Chicago to the Trumbull Aquatics Center. Events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
