No. 2 Scots shoot their way past DU

Second-ranked Wooster shot 62 percent from the field and had five players score in double figures.  That helped the Fighting Scots to a 100-75 victory over the Denison Big Red from Timken Gymnasium in Wooster, Ohio.

The Scots shot 60 percent in the first half and connected on five 3-point field goals while holding the Big Red to a 2-for-14 showing from beyond the arc.  Denison trailed 50-29 at the half.

In the second half, the Big Red offense fared better, but Wooster still managed to outscore DU 50-46 to secure the 25-point win.

Denison was led in scoring by Brad Woolard who finished with 24 points off a 9-for-13 shooting performance.  Alex Longi followed with 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds.  Darius White and Briggs King each chipped in nine points for the Big Red.

For Wooster, Evan Pannell led the way with 19 points.  Xavier Brown followed with 15 points while Scott Purcell added 14 and Kenny DeBoer and Josh Kipfer scored 12 apiece.

The Fighting Scots improve to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference while Denison drops to 4-7 and 0-4 in conference play.  Denison will look to bounce back on Wednesday (Jan. 8) when they host Oberlin at 7:30 p.m.
