Box Score Berry's Maggie Midkiff scored from just inside the 18-yard box in the 77th minute of play, breaking a 1-1 tie and sending the Vikings to a 2-1 win over the Denison Big Red from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
Berry struck first when they scored in the 11th minute of play off a long, unassisted goal by Rachel Leroy. That would stand until the 32nd minute when Denison's Jocelyn Festle successfully converted a penalty kick attempt after a yellow card was issued to Berry's Becca Proschansky.
Denison did outshoot Berry, 11-7 but Viking goalkeeper Melissa Sanchez did finish with five saves in her 90 minutes of work. Denison keeper Andrea Karl posted a pair of saves.
The loss drops Denison's record to 2-2 while Berry improves to 3-1. The Big Red will resume competition on Wednesday when they travel to Westerville, Ohio for their annual clash with Otterbein College at 5 p.m.
