The Big Red women's swimmers and divers picked up a victory over Cleveland State at the quad meet with Ohio State, Virginia Tech and the Vikings. Denison suffered a 239-61 loss to the Hokies and a 251.5-48.5 defeat against Ohio State. The win over Division I Cleveland State came via a 188-112 final score.
First-year distance freestyler Campbell Costley turned in a fifth-place finish in the 1,000 free, touching in 10:22.70. She also finished seventh in the 500 free in 5:03.95. Morgan Nuess logged Denison's best finish in the 50 free with a time of 24.23 that landed her in fourth.
Natalie Lugg posted three top-nine finishes in the 200 IM (2:10.78 – 10th), the 200 breaststroke (2:24.68 – 7th), and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.49 – 8th). Krysta Garbarino logged a seventh-place finish in the 200 butterfly and Molly Willingham touched ninth in the 100 back (1:00.06).
In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay team of Carolyn Kane, Ashley Yearwood, Nuess, and Willingham came in third in 3:30.50.
Denison will return to action tomorrow when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for their annual dual meet with Kenyon College.
