The Denison men's swimming & diving team went 1-2 at the quad meet hosted by Ohio State University on Friday night. The Big Red secured a 180-120 win over Division I Cleveland State. Against No. 11 Ohio State, the Buckeyes came away with a 202-90 victory and No. 14 Virginia Tech topped DU 251-49.
Senior Sean Chabot posted a seventh place finish in the 100 backstroke in 51.06 and Damon Rosenburg finished in seventh in the 100 breaststroke in 57.15.
First-year Jack Lindell took home a fourth place finish in the 200 IM (1:57.25) and a ninth place showing in the 200 backstroke (1:55.36). Following Lindell in the 200 IM was Jackson Humphrey and Joe Brunk in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Senior Al Weik finished eighth in the 1000 free in 9:45.20 and 10th in the 500 freestyle (4:48.45). In the 50 free it was Ryan Fleming who touched in 21.19 to place sixth. Andrew Rich, Conrad Wuorinen, and Sam Strosnider went 6-7-8, respectively in the 100 fly.
The 400 free relay team of Carlos Maciel, Spencer Fronk, Chabot, and Wuorinen finished third in 3:06.15 while Connor Dignan paced DU in the diving well with a fifth-place finish in the 1-meter and an eighth-place finish in the 3-meter board. Dignan posted scores of 308.85 and 307.65, respectively.
Denison will return to action tomorrow when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for their annual dual meet with Kenyon College.
