Box Score Goals have been few and far between in the most recent meetings between Denison and Case Western Reserve. In fact, in each of the meetings over the last two seasons ended in scoreless ties. For 77 minutes on Wednesday night it was beginning to look like the stalemate would continue.
That all changed when Case Western Reserve's Kiley Armstrong snapped a 297 minute scoreless streak in the series by settling a deflection five yards in front of the goal. Her shot found the back of the net and that would be enough for the 13th ranked Spartans to come away with a 1-0 victory.
Denison finished with six shots, three coming in each half. Case ended with 19 shots, five of which were on-goal. Big Red goalkeeper Andrea Karl posted four saves in five opportunities while playing all 90 minutes. Maddy Regan paced Denison with three shot attempts.
The Big Red falls to 0-3 on the season while Case improves to 2-0-1. DU will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Pennsylvania for a clash with Gettysburg College at 12 p.m.
