The Denison men's tennis team shut out Oberlin, 9-0, on a sunny Saturday in Granville, Ohio. With the win, DU improved to 11-1 on the year and a perfect 6-0 at home.
Seniors Tom Cawood and Tim Martin notched their sixth-straight win and first at the first flight following an 8-2 win over Charlie Marks and Soren Zeliger. Juan Guerra and Grant Veltman improved to 6-1 in dual matches with an 8-5 decision over Logan Chun and Ben Turchin at second doubles. The Big Red completed the sweep when Matt McErlean and Jeffrey LoDuca won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Cawood improved to 13-2 overall and 9-1 at No. 1 singles following a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory over Chun, while McErlean picked up a straight-set win (6-0, 6-3) at the second flight. Guerra upped his record 8-2 overall after a three-set (6-2, 3-6, 10-5) decision at the third flight, while Veltman won 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles. DU completed the shutout with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins by Casey Cempre and Andrew Marczak at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. Cempre notched his 12th win, while Marczak collected his seventh-straight victory.
The Big Red continues its five-match homestand on Wednesday when they host fourth-ranked Kenyon College at 5 p.m.
