Denison closed out the 2011-12 season with a fourth-place finish at the second North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series event. That finish resulted in a fourth-place overall finish for the Big Red in the final NCAC series standings.
The Championship series consisted of two, 36-hole tournaments over the last two weekends. Last weekend, in Meadville, Pa., Denison placed fourth. This weekend, thanks to career-rounds from first-year Amanda Castle, DU held its ground and took fourth place once again.
For the Oberlin Tournament the Big Red posted a 360 on Sunday to hold off fifth-place Ohio Wesleyan by two strokes. Castle came off a program-best round of 80 on Saturday with an 81 on Sunday. Stacey Adams rebounded with an 88 and junior Elizabeth Tristano fired a 92. Carly Schultz would finish off DU's scoring on Sunday with a round of 99. Castle placed eighth overall at the tournament while Adams and Tristano finished in a tie for 21st place.
For the series, Castle placed eighth with a four-round average of 82.0. That earned the rookie her first All-NCAC certificate. Adams placed 19th with an average of 89.0 while Tristano checked in 21st at 94.0.
This weekend's tournament champion was Allegheny who held off second-place DePauw by one stroke to win with a total of 637. DePauw's Paige Gooch was the tournament medalist after rounds of 81 and 75.
