First-year Amanda Castle tied the Denison school record for lowest 18-hole round with an 80 on Saturday from Oberlin Golf Club in Oberlin, Ohio. This is the second event and third of four rounds of the 2012 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series and Denison sits in fourth place.
Castle's eight-over par round was the third-lowest score of the afternoon, trailing only Hiram's Kristine Khowcharoen (75) and Allegheny's Miranda Santucci (78). The round matches school record shot by Allie DeFries at the Mount Union Invitational on March 28, 2008.
As a team, the Big Red sit tied with Ohio Wesleyan for fourth place in the event with 376 strokes. Elizabeth Tristano followed in 21st place with a 94 while Stacey Adams checked in with a 98. Denison's scoring was closed out by Carly Schultz' round of 104.
In the overall standings, Denison also sits in fourth place with 1,103 strokes. They trail third-place Wittenberg by 75 strokes heading into tomorrow's final round. Denison currently holds a 15-stroke lead over fifth-place Ohio Wesleyan.
