The Denison Big Red improved to 7-0 on the year after shutting out Ohio Wesleyan University 9-0 on Tuesday in Granville, Ohio.
The senior tandem of Matt McErlean and Tyler Cempre logged their ninth-consecutive victory after a dominating 8-2 decision over John Rissell and Richie Karban at first doubles. Seniors Tim Martin and Tom Cawood shut out Will Thieman and Conor Breen at the second flight, while rookies Grant Veltman and Jeffrey LoDuca posted an 8-4 decision over Matt Swaim and John Russell.
Cawood moved to 4-1 at No. 1 singles after a 6-0, 6-0 win over Thieman, while McErlean remained undefeated at the second flight following a 6-2, 6-1 decision. Casey Cempre improved to 9-2 on the year with a win at third singles, while Tyler Cempre won his fifth-straight singles match (6-1, 6-2). Veltman and Andrew Marczak completed the shutout with straight-set wins at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
The Big Red (7-0) travels to Case Western Reserve on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
