Fifth-seeded Denison travels to Wabash for NCAC Tourney

Winners of six of its last eight games, Denison enters the 2012 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament as one of the hottest teams in the league.  After posting a 9-7 record in league play, DU has earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to Wabash College on Tuesday (Feb. 21) for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against the Little Giants.

Denison split the season series with Wabash, falling 71-65 to the Little Giants in Livingston Gym on Dec. 3, only to exact revenge with a 72-62 win on Jan. 28 in Crawfordsville, Ind.  Leading the way in that road win was senior Brett Tiberi who scored 22 points, all in the second half, off a 5-of-9 shooting performance from beyond the arc.

Denison's No. 5 seed marks the program's highest tournament position since they were seeded fourth in 2005.  No. 4 Wabash checks into the game with an 18-7 record and a 10-6 record in conference play.  The Little Giants are winners of three of their last four, including a 55-49 home win over Wittenberg on Feb. 8.

This is the third time Denison and Wabash have met in the NCAC Tournament.  Both previous meetings have resulted in victories for the Little Giants in Chadwick Court.  The last time they played in the NCAC Quarterfinals was two years ago when Wabash was the No. 2 seed and Denison was the No. 7 seed.

This year, Denison is led in scoring by Dimonde Hale's 16.4 ppg.  Larry Farmer follows with 12.2 ppg and 8.0 rebound per game.  Hale is ranked third in the league in scoring and Farmer is fifth in rebounding.

Wabash is paced by Derek Bailey's 14.7 ppg and Aaron Zinnerman's 12.8 ppg.  The Little Giants boast the NCAC's top defense and are holding opponents to 58.4 ppg.

Wabash will provide a live video broadcast of Tuesday's quarterfinal along with live statistics.  The winner of the quarterfinal will advance to the home court of the highest remaining seed for the semifinals and finals to be played on Feb. 24-25. In other NCAC Tournament match-up's on Tuesday night, No. 1 Wittenberg will host No. 8 Kenyon.  No. 2 Wooster hosts No. 7 DePauw and No. 3 Ohio Wesleyan entertains No. 6, Hiram.
