Box Score Jessie Huschart broke a scoreless tie in the fourth minute of double overtime, sending Ohio Wesleyan to a 1-0 victory over the Denison Big Red from Roy Rike Field in Delaware, Ohio.
The goal by Huschart came from 25-yards away and sailed just over the head of Denison goalkeeper Andrea Karl and under the cross bar of the goal for her first goal of the season.
The game-winner from Huschart came just moments after a flurry of shots from the Big Red. In the opening minute of the second overtime, Jocelyn Festle took a shot that was saved by Hannah Zacharias. Just two minutes later Sara Livingston and Lauren Jay would put back-to-back shots on goal with each being turned away by Zacharias. After the final save on Jay's scoring attempt, the Bishops reversed the field and Huschart ended the contest with 6:20 left on the clock.
Denison outshot OWU 16-11 and forced Zacharias to make eight saves on the night. Livingston led DU with five shots while Andrea Witte took four. Keara Kilbane and Festle each took three shots for the Big Red.
Denison also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks but was flagged for four offside penalties compared to two for Ohio Wesleyan.
Denison drops to 4-10-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the North Coast athletic Conference while the Battling Bishops improve to 6-10-1 and 3-4-0 in the conference. The Big Red will close out the regular season on Saturday (Oct. 27) with a 1 p.m. start against Oberlin. Denison's four-member senior class will be honored prior to the match.
