The Denison Big Red totaled 112 points, finishing just six points behind first-place Kenyon at the Kenyon Swimming Relays and Denison Diving Relays on Saturday afternoon.
DU posted three first place finishes at the 10-event relay invitational hosted by the two rivals. The swimming events took place at the Kenyon Athletics Center while the diving relays were held at the newly opened Trumbull Aquatics Center on Denison's campus.
Denison's diving duo of Kelly Frazier and Sterling Keiser posted victories in the 3-meter and 1-meter relay. In the 3-meter Frazier led the way with a score of 233.2 while Kaiser checked in a 196.4 for a total of 429. In the 1-meter, Frazier posted a six-dive score of 242.4 while her counterpart posted a score of 173.9.
Denison also got a victory on the swimming end in the 500 crescendo relay thanks to a time of 4:33.25 by Morgan Nuess, Michelle Howell, Molly Willingham and Alyssa Swanson.
In six of the remaining seven swimming events DU would place second as the 200 back relay team of Claire Van Fossen, Lindsay Zeberlein, Libby Dalziel and Sarah Yu posted a time of 1:50.03.
In the 200 breaststroke relay Howell, Marissa Bednarek, Lucy Roth and Maddie Armitage turned in a time of 2:08.65.
The 200 butterfly relay saw Van Fossen, Howell, Ashley Yearwood and Yu touch in 1:47.42. The three-person 1500 yard freestyle relay had Mary Cullen, Swanson and Janet Watson combine for a time of 15:37.82.
The 400 IM relay had Yu, Howell, Dalziel and Willingham return for a time of 4:10.69 and the 200 freestyle relay saw Nuess, Yearwood, Mary Van Leuven and Swanson touch in 1:37.73.
Denison returns to action next Saturday (Oct. 27) with a dual meet at Division I, Toledo at 1 p.m.
