Box Score The Denison women's soccer team dominated 25th-ranked Ohio Northern University in the shot department, but after a 110 minutes Tuesday's match in Ada, Ohio ended in a scoreless draw.
In the first half, Denison was the aggressor unloading 10 shots, eight of which were stopped by Polar Bear goalkeeper Erin Waehner. Three of Ohio Northern's six first-half shots were on goal. The Big Red also attempted four corners compared to just one by ONU.
In the second half, each team attempted five shots, including four attempts on goal. Denison's only shot of the first overtime was an off-goal attempt by first-year Grace Cronin just one minute and 48 seconds into the period. With 30 seconds remaining in the second overtime, Cronin fired a shot on goal that was corralled by Waehner.
After 110 minutes, DU outshot Ohio Northern 17-14, including a 13-7 advantage in shots on goal. Denison attempted twice as many corner kicks (10-5), and committed one more foul (10-9). Waehner finished with 13 saves, while DU keeper Andrea Karl logged seven stops.
Cronin paced the Big Red attack with seven shots, while classmate Lydia Harlan sent six shots towards the ONU goal.
Denison's record moves to 3-3-2, while Ohio Northern goes to 4-1-2 on the year. DU returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 24) when they travel to regional foe Centre for a 1 p.m. match.
