DU wins 10th in blowout fashion

Box Score

Five DU players notched hat tricks and eight players scored at least two goals in Thursday night's 24-3 romp over Mount St. Joseph from Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Big Red offense exploded for 17 first half goals while reaching the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2003. DU was led by first-year Katherine Palms who scored a career-high four goals to go along with one assist. Jenny Strathern, Molly Sbrega, Alex Thurner and Olivia Shiland all added three goals apiece for the Big Red.

Phoebe Myhrum chipped in two goals and three assists while Strathern and Sbrega also added two assists.

Junior Carly Tschantz led Denison with seven draws and Palms followed with six.  Lulu Carter continued her strong all-around play with six ground balls, four caused turnovers, two draws along with one goal and one assist.

DU outshot the Lions 32-6. Mount St. Joseph managed just one shot attempt in the second half. Denison improves to 10-4 with the win and will place their undefeated North Coast Athletic Conference record on the line this Saturday at 2 p.m. when they host the 4-1 College of Wooster Fighting Scots. A win over the Scots would assure Denison of their first outright NCAC regular season title since 2006 and their 16th conference title, overall.
