The Denison Big Red men's tennis team picked up their fourth shutout win of the season following a 9-0 decision over The College of Wooster on Wednesday in Granville.
Senior Evan Verbofsky logged his 12th win of the year, and junior Tom Cawood improved to 13-2 after posting straight-set wins at first and second singles, respectively. Jared Connolly and Tim Martin each won at the third and fourth flights, while Scott Johnson picked up his first collegiate win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Cam Williams completed the singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the sixth flight.
In doubles play, Connolly and Martin teamed up for an 8-4 victory at the first flight, while the rookie duo of Jay Fovel and Juan Guerra blanked Alex Thurner and Paul Thomas at No. 2 doubles. At third doubles, Cawood and Verbofsky picked up their third win of the season following an 8-2 decision.
Denison improved to 9-7, while the Fighting Scots fall to 4-12. The Big Red close out the North Coast Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday (April 23) with a home match against Wabash at 10 a.m.
