The Denison men's tennis team snapped a three-match skid with an 8-1 victory over Oberlin College on the Hunsinger Courts in Oberlin, Ohio on Thursday.
The Big Red logged victories at first and second doubles en route to taking a 2-1 match lead through doubles action. Juniors Matt McErlean and Tyler Cempre cruised to an 8-1 win over Charlie Marks and Leo Sprinzen at the first flight. At No. 2 doubles, the freshmen duo of Jay Fovel and Juan Guerra logged an 8-3 win over Eliot Heaton and Logan Chun.
DU secured the victory with a clean sweep in singles competition. McErlean posted a pair of 6-3 wins over Chun at first singles, while Guerra registered a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory over Marks at the second flight. Andrew Marczak, Cempre, Fovel and Cam Williams all logged straight set wins at third through sixth singles, respectively.
Denison improves to 8-7 overall, while the Yeomen fall to 6-13. The Big Red conclude the regular season with three-straight home matches. DU returns to the court on Wednesday (April 20) against The College of Wooster at 4:30 p.m.
