Box Score Sewanee handed the Denison women's lacrosse team a 12-8 defeat on Sunday afternoon. The game, which had to be moved to one of Sewanee's intramural fields due to unplayable conditions on their regular field, was played through a thick fog which wreaked havoc on both squads.
The team's combined for 44 turnovers as clearing the ball became a near impossibility. Sewanee took a 9-4 lead after the first period and despite outscoring the Tigers in the second half, 4-3 a DU comeback was not in the cards.
Phoebe Myhrum led the Denison offense with two goals and one assist. Molly Sbrega also scored twice. The Big Red edged Sewanee in shots, 24-23 and also held a 10-6 advantage in draw controls.
Sewanee goalie Amy Nussbaum had 10 saves while DU goalie Grace Bodenmann had six. Carly Tschantz paced the Big Red with seven draws.
Denison falls to 2-4 with the loss. They will open conference play on Wednesday (March 30) when they travel to Springfield, Ohio for a 6 p.m. clash with the Wittenberg Tigers.
