The Denison women's tennis team picked up their 10th win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Case Western Reserve University on Tuesday afternoon in Granville.
Senior Marta Drane (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) improved to 11-4 on the year following a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the Spartans' Samantha Lewis at No. 1 singles, while junior Kristin Cobb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) picked up a 6-3, 6-2 decision at the second flight and Erin Chadwell (Chicago, Ill./Traverse City Central) was victories at fourth singles (6-1, 6-2). Senior Kara Zdanowski (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) and sophomore Kate Westenberger (York, Pa./Dallastown) closed out singles play with 6-0, 6-0 wins on the fifth and sixth courts, respectively.
The teams of Cobb and Drane, and Chadwell and Zdanowski picked up their 14th victories of the season with wins at first and second doubles, respectively. The first-year tandem of Jane Lent (Glenview, Ill./Cranbrook-Kingswood) and Alex Marcell (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) moved to 5-0 on the year with an 8-1 decision at the third flight.
The Big Red improves to 10-3 on the year, while Case falls to 9-9 overall. DU returns to the court on Wednesday (April 7) when they travel to Gambier to take on the Ladies of Kenyon College. Match time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
