The Denison men's tennis team logged an impressive 5-4 victory over Case Western Reserve University on Tuesday afternoon from Granville, Ohio.  The win was the Big Red's fifth straight and 12th of the 2010 season.

DU trailed the Spartans 2-1 following doubles competition.  The lone doubles victory came at the second flight by Jared Connolly (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park & River Forest) and Tim Martin (Oak Park, Ill..Oak Park & River Forest).  The duo's 13th win of the year came via 8-4 decision over Rohan Patel and Alex Solove.

In singles action, Denison gained a 3-2 edge thanks to straight-set victories by juniors Evan Verbofsky (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) and Nate Hobrath (Strongsville, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) at fourth and third singles, respectively.  Sophomore Matt McErlean (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), the reigning North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, expanded DU's lead to 4-2 with a thrilling 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles. McErlean is now 12-0 at second singles, and 16-1 overall. The Big Red secured their 12th win of the season when Connolly closed out a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Sean Carr at the fifth flight.
