The Denison men's tennis team closed out the regular season with an 8-1 victory over the College of Wooster on Wednesday afternoon from Wooster, Ohio.
The Big Red duo of Tom Cawood (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and Matt McErlean (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Evan Verbofsky (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) and Adam Seeley (West Hartford, Conn./William H. Hall) logged an 8-2 decision at the third flight.
In singles competition, Cawood improved to 14-9 following a 6-2, 6-1 win at first singles. McErlean logged his 20th victory of the season after defeating the Scots' Matt Mandwell (6-1, 6-0). Also picking up straight-set wins at third through sixth singles were Verbofsky, Jared Connolly (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest), Tim Martin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) and Seeley.
Denison improves to 16-3 overall, while Wooster falls to 6-10. DU returns to the court on Friday (April 30) when they host the 2010 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament in Granville.
