For the second straight season the Denison women's tennis team locked up a third-place finish at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Indoor Championship from DePauw University. The Big Red, who entered the tournament ranked eighth in the most recent national poll, defeated No. 6 Carnegie Mellon in the quarterfinals before falling to No. 3, Emory in the semifinals. Today, in the third-place match, the Big Red topped No. 5 Washington and Lee, 7-2.
DU won all three doubles points and senior Marta Drane (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) picked up a big three-set win at No. 1 singles when she defeated Ann Morris, 6-2, 0-6, 6-2.
Other singles victories went to Laura Krull (Bend, Ore./Keystone National), Erin Chadwell (Chicago, Ill./Traverse City Central) and Kara Zdanowski (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) in flights four through six.
