Summer Frazier scored six goals and helped Guilford take a 10-5 lead in the first half en route to a 15-11 season opening victory over the Denison Big Red from Greensboro, N.C.

Denison's Lisa Feroli (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) got her team on the board first but Guilford responded with nine of the next 11 goals to take a 9-3 lead with 7:50 to play in the first half.

In the second half DU's defense would tighten up and their offense outscored the Quakers 6-5.  Both Feroli and Sara Langsam (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) ended with three goals to lead Denison.  Phoebe Myhrum (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) added one goal and two assists while Lulu Carter (Greenwich, Conn./The Millbrook School) posted two caused turnovers and two ground balls to lead the defense.

For Guilford, Frazier scored six times off eight shot attempts.  Shelly Nogueira led her team with four assists and Carrie Ernst added three goals.

Denison drops to 0-1 while Guilford improves to 3-0.  DU will return to action on March 14 when they take on Pacific.
