Big Red drops regular season finale at Hiram

Hiram College had four starters score in double figures, tallied 40 points in the paint and shot 55 percent from the field in the second half.  All those factors lead the Terriers to an 82-63 victory over the visiting Denison men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon from Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio.

After a tightly contested opening 20 minutes that saw 10 lead changes and five ties, Hiram entered the locker room with their largest lead of the period following a three-pointer by Chris Roberts.  The home team entered the half up 39-31.

A 3-for-5 start to the second period helped the Terriers acquire a double-digit lead, and advantage they would maintain for the remainder of the session.  Hiram shot an impressive 18-of-33 from the field in the frame, while the Big Red only converted 9-of-24 shots from the floor.

Denison was paced by sophomore Brett Tiberi's (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) career-high 20 points.  Tiberi was 7-of-9 from the field and 5-of-7 from behind the arc.  Junior Larry Farmer (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) chipped in 13 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, while Mike Garabedian (La Grange, Ill./Nazareth Academy) added nine tallies and five boards.

Roberts and Glenn Campbell each scored 17 tallies, while Chris Meyer and Babjide Eniola scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.  Roberts also pulled down seven rebounds.

The Big Red finished the regular season 7-18 overall and 7-9 in North Coast Athletic Conference action, which landed them in seventh place in the conference standings.  Denison will travel to Crawfordsville, Ind. to take on Wabash in the quarterfinals of the NCAC Tournament on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
