Wooster's Paige Piper broke a scoreless tie in the 65th minute on Saturday and that lone goal would be enough to lift the Fighting Scots to a 1-0 victory over the Denison Big Red from Carl Dale Field in Wooster, Ohio.

Denison outshot the Scots 4-3 in the first half and the two teams tied with four shots apiece in the second half.  The Big Red were led in shot attempts by senior forward Jen Clemmer (Hixson, Tenn./The Baylor School) who ended the day with four shots.  First-year goalkeeper Andrea Karl (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) had two saves for the Big Red and Wooster's Michele Ring stopped three would-be Denison goals.

After holding an 8-7 advantage in shots, Denison also attempted eight corner kicks to Wooster's two.

The win improves Wooster's record to 8-5 and 1-1 in conference play.  Denison drops to 7-4-2 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC.  The Big Red will return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 12) when they host Wittenberg at 7 p.m. from Barclay-Thomsen Field.
