The Denison men's swimming & diving team picked up dual wins over Ohio Wesleyan University and at Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon in North Coast Athletic Conference competition. DU defeated OWU 153-91 and OC 180-55.
Against the Bishops, junior Michael DeSantis (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves) and senior Jake Lewing (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) paced the Big Red with three and two wins, respectively. In addition to being part of the 200 medley relay team, DeSantis also logged a pair of individual victories. He won both the 50 and 100 back with times of 24.85 and 53.69, respectively. Lewing swept the breaststroke events, touching in at 27.85 in the 50 and 1:01.60 in the 100.
Against the Yeomen, freshmen Ryan Reynolds (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Lahser) and Spencer Fronk (Cherry Hills Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) both notched three wins to pace Denison. Reynolds won the 50 free with a time of 22.49, and was also part of the 400 free and medley relay teams. Fronk notched individual victories in the 200 I.M. (1:58.56) and the 100 free (48.30), along with being a member of the 400 medley relay squad. Other multiple winners include rookies Merritt Boardman (Burlington, Vt./Rice Memorial), Sean Chabot (Washington, Mich./Stoney Creek), Jackson Humphrey (Westerville, Ohio/Columbus Academy), Brad Ratliff (Eldersburg, Md./Century) and Al Weik (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest). In addition to being legs in the 400 free relay, Chabot and Weik also posted victories in the 200 back (1:55.93) and 200 free (1:43.88), respectively. Humphrey touched in at 2:00.26 to win the 200 butterfly, while Ratliff was victorious in the 200 breast with a mark of 2:16.62. Additionally, the duo joined Reynolds and Fronk on the winning 400 medley relay team. Boardman rounded out the multiple winners with victories in the 500 (4:58.27) and 1,000 (10:17.61) freestyle races.
Denison returns to action on Friday (Nov. 5) when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State University and Cleveland State University. First event is schedule to begin at 5 p.m.
