The Big Red took first place in the first 11 swimming events of the meet before forfeiting the final three swimming events and both diving events to their opponents.  Leading the way once again was sophomore Robert Barry (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) who swept the backstroke events and also was a part of the winning 200 medley relay team with Jake Lewing (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury), Chris Bagley (West Bloomfield, Mich./Brother Rice) and Mike Barczak (Beverly Hills, Mich./Brother Rice).  That group posted a time of 1:35.07 and Barry returned with a time of 51.40 in the 100 backstroke and 1:55.27 in the 200 back.

Senior Casey Browning (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) earned a win on senior day in the 200 butterfly.  He touched in 1:57.32.  The 1000 freestyle went to Austin Vierra (Placerville, Calif./Ponderosa) who completed the distance race in 10:15.95.  Freshman Jay Haney (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) won the 500 free in 4:47.73.  Senior John Nemeth (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) was the winner in the 200 breaststroke in 2:12.73 while Barczak picked up a pair of wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles.  Barczak posted a time of 21.59 in the 50 and came back with a time of 47.41 in the 100.

Denison's winners were rounded out by Lewing in the 100 breaststroke (59.94) and Dan Thurston (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) who won the 200 free in 1:43.61.

The 100 fly, 400 IM, 800 free relay and both the one and three-meter dive competitions were surrendered by the Big Red.  DU will return to action next Saturday (Jan. 30) when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on Carnegie Mellon at 1 p.m.
