Big Red Fall in NCAA Second Round

During a first half largely controlled by the pressing Denison offense, it was Otterbein junior forward Lindsey Rudibaugh that capitalized on the lone window of opportunity, giving her squad the one-goal advantage that would hold over the final sixty minutes of action for a 1-0 Cardinal victory in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Rudibaugh settled under a corner kick headed on a clear by DU and fired a laser to the upper-right hand corner of the net for the game's lone tally.

The Big Red, averaging 17.8 shots per game, were held to just eight shots in the match, with only three of those on goal. For the Cardinals defense, today marked their 18th shut-out in 22 matches on the year.

Senior defender Kate Henderson (Denver, Colo./George Washington) led the Denison offensive attack with four of the team's eight shots. Senior keeper Courtney Cobb (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) posted five saves in her final game in the Red and White.

The graduating class of Henderson, Cobb, Julie Dean (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mt. Notre Dame), Leah Ellis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central), Katie Eckenhoff (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier), Laura Kuehn (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington), Jesse Leary (Loveland, Ohio/Kings) and Anna Rusch (Washington, D.C./Sidwell) wrap up their four-year careers in Granville with the distinction of four consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament and wins in all four trips.

This season's 16-4-2 final record closes the Class of 2010's overall record at an impressive 60-20-7 for an overall winning percentage of .730.
