No. 4 Big Red Advance to NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals After 4-1 Victory Over No. 13 WashU

Granville, Ohio - The No. 4 Denison men's tennis team makes it three-straight years in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals after defeating WashU for the second time this season, 4-1. The Big Red got crucial momentum in the doubles point before having the back end of the lineup dominate to secure their 21st win in a row. Denison improves its record to 27-2 on the season, and will head down to Chattanooga.

Doubles: Ethan Green and Kael Shah picked up their 20th doubles win of the season quickly, defeating their opponent 6-2 in just 25 minutes. Andreas Chapides and Nick Meyers battled in the three spot, but ultimately fell short in a 6-4 decision. With the final match deciding the first point, Wesley Huang and Jacob Patterson were tied 5-5, and the duo won back-to-back games to take the set 7-5 and give Denison the crucial first point of the match

  2. Wesley Huang/Jacob Patterson (DENM) def. Drew Koval/Nathan Tam (WASHUM) 7-5

Singles: Patterson wasted no time using his momentum from the doubles match into singles, winning his match 6-1, 6-0. The Bears would get a point back in the No. 2 flight, slicing the Big Red lead to one. Just as they did in yesterday's match against Carthage, the back half of the lineup delivered once again, as Anthony Payiavlas won his first set 6-3 before dominating the second set 6-1. For the final point, Chapides and Meyers were both in striking distance, with either one having the upper hand to clinch. In the second set of Meyer's match, up 5-3, he would prevail, sending the Big Red into a frenzy on the court. Denison heads to Chattanooga for the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
