Dorighi Earns Newcomer of the Year, Three Placed on All-NCAC Teams

Cleveland, Ohio - After winning the NCAC regular season championship for the first time in a decade, the Denison women's basketball team placed three Big Red on all-conference teams, while first-year Molly Dorighi earned NCAC Newcomer of the Year. Juniors Abby Cooch and Ada Taute landed on the first team, while sophomore Anelly Mad-Toingue earned third team honors.

Molly Dorighi (Englewood, Colo. | First-Year | G) - First-year Molly Dorighi captured NCAC Newcomer of the Year for the Big Red after an impressive rookie campaign. Dorighi has played in all 26 games so far with 22 starts, and has averaged 5.9 points per game in conference play. She shined on the defensive end, as she ranked sixth in the conference in steals per game with 1.9, and had seven games of three or more steals. 

Abby Cooch (Clifton, Va. | Junior | G) - Cooch finds herself on First Team All-NCAC for the third consecutive season. In 14 conference games, Cooch scored 13.4 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, and leads the team with 3.9 assists. She has started and played in all 26 games, and led the conference in free throw percentage at 92.1%. She has produced 17 games of double-digits, and has notched 10 and 11 assist games. Cooch has totaled 341 points this season and over 100 assists, and is 12 points away from 1,000 in her Big Red career.

Ada Taute (Chicago, Ill. | Junior | G) - Junior Ada Taute lands on All-NCAC for the second time in her career, this time as a first team honoree. Taute leads the Big Red in scoring with 13.6 points per game and 2.3 steals per game, and ranks second on the team in rebounds with 6.6. Taute ranks top-10 in the conference in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. She has notched 20 games scoring double figures, and five games with over five steals or more. Her 47.2% conference field goal percentage currently ranks sixth in the NCAC, and has totaled over 350 points and 172 rebounds this season.

Anelly Mad-toingué (Wellesley, Mass. | Sophomore | P) - Mad-toingué nabs third team All-NCAC honors after a dominant year defensively and on the glass. The sophomore ranked second in the conference in rebounding with 9.9 a game, and is fourth on the Big Red with 7.6 points per game. She led the conference in blocks with 2.5 per game, which also ranked 13th in the nation. Her 49.4% field goal percentage is first on the Big Red, and has started in all 26 games so far this season. 

The Big Red will host the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Tournament this Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. Denison will play against Southern Virginia on Friday at 7:30pm.
