Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Big Red Come Up Short in 8-5 Loss to No. 10 Dickinson

Owings Mills, Md.- Denison men's lacrosse closed out the 2026 Mustang Classic with a tightly contested 8-5 loss to No. 10 Dickinson. The Big Red moves to 2-6 for the season, while Dickinson jumps to 6-1 ahead of its conference play.

?After a scoreless nine minutes, Denison's Brady Monturio found the back of the Red Devil's net with just under six minutes to play. This came from a quick push-up the field off a missed Dickinson shot. The Big Red held its lead for three minutes before the Red Devils tied and took a 3-1 lead just before the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Denison responded with two goals in four minutes, tying the game at three. The teams exchanged possession and pressed for the lead until Dickinson broke the tie, scoring its fourth goal with seven minutes left in the half.

Similar to the day before, the Big Red came out of halftime with a quick goal to tie the game at 4-4. Denison then held Dickinson to just one shot for six minutes after the equalizer. The Red Devils found a seam and scored back-to-back goals, taking a 6-4 lead with over seven minutes left in the quarter. The Big Red scored its final goal of the day but gave up two more late in the third, going down 8-5 heading into the fourth.

Despite a back-and-forth fourth quarter featuring 15 combined shots, neither team scored, and Denison ultimately fell in a hard-fought 8-5 loss.

Denison had five different goal scorers throughout the day: Jack Moellering, Michael Cassidy, Zach Warren, Jonah Frank, and Monturio. Monturio would tally two assists on the day, while Frank dished out one assist. In the circle, Grant Larson went 8-13 in face-offs, while teammate Luke Marascio was 2-4, resulting in a 10-7 advantage in face-offs.

On the defensive end, Cian Nicholas notched two caused turnovers. He held the Red Devils to 20-for-25 in clear attempts. Denison goalkeeper Andrew Albert tallied 14 saves after facing 22 shots on goal.
