Granville, Ohio- The No. 1 Denison men's tennis team kicked off their 2026 season with two NCAC matches. The reigning Division III National Champions dominated match one in a 7-0 decision. Carrying momentum from the first match, Denison wiped out Wabash in a 7-0 decision to move to 2-0 on the season.
Match 1 (Denison 7, Wooster 0)
Doubles:
The Big Red opened the Wooster match with a clean sweep of the Fighting Scots in doubles. The duo of Ethan Green and Kyle Patrick cruised to a 6-1 victory. On Court 1, Andreas Chapides and Nick Meyers secured the point in a hard-fought 6-4 win. In the last court, the duo of Balraj Idnani and Aidan Borosko fell back on the thunderous support of their teammates. Down 4-3, the pair rallied with all eyes on them. Ultimately, the Big Red prevailed in a 6-4 decision to secure a sweep in doubles.

To kick off singles, first-year Wesley Huang was first to finish his opponent, winning 6-0 in straight sets. Following close behind, Kael Shah would finish his opponent in a two-set sweep. To secure the match victory, senior Anthony Payiavlas would down his opponent in straight sets. The rest of the Big Red slate would follow suit, cleaning house to secure the 7-0 win.

Carrying over momentum from a dominant performance in match one, the Big Red swept all doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. The team of Nick Meyers sand Anthony Payiavlas took down the Little Giants in a 6-0 decision. The pair of Jacob Patterson and Wesley Huang were not far behind, winning 6-1 to secure the doubles point. With both teams lining court one, the dynamic duo of Kael Shah and Ethan Green battled to secure a clean sweep for the Big Red. To close the set, Shah dealt an ace to slam the door shut on Wabash.

To close the day, the Big Red completed the perfect day with six straight victories in singles. Andreas Chapides put Denison on the board first with a quick two-set victory. Kael Shah continued his electric day with a victory in the 1 game. To clinch a perfect 2-0 start to the season, senior Jacob Patterson downed his opponent. Mirroring the first match, the Big Red swept the rest of the singles games in straight sets. The Big Red finish the day 6-0 in doubles, 12-0 in singles, and start the season off with big time 7-0 victories.
