Marietta, Ohio — No. 1 Denison men's soccer extended its unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Marietta on Wednesday evening at Marietta Field.

The Big Red (7-0-1) controlled possession from the start, generating eight first-half shots and earning five corner kicks before breaking through in the 36th minute. Senior Kameron Kist calmly buried a penalty kick for his fourth goal of the season after Marietta was whistled for a foul in the box.

Denison's defense limited the Pioneers (3-5-2) to just one shot on target across 90 minutes, as goalkeeper Alex Provost collected his seventh shutout of the year.  The Big Red's back line allowed only one Marietta shot in the second half.

Looking to close the door late, Denison continued to push forward and was rewarded in the 89th minute when first-year Julian Bozzolo scored his third goal of the year to seal the result. In total, the Big Red outshot the Pioneers 18-6 and finished with a decisive 9-3 edge in corner kicks.

With the victory, Denison stays unbeaten as it turns its attention to another Ohio Athletic Conference matchup, traveling to Columbus on Saturday, Sept. 27, for a 7 p.m. contest at Capital.
