Crawfordsville, Ind.- The No. 3 Denison men's tennis team remains undefeated in North Coast Athletic Conference play after defeating Wabash College 7-0 on the road. The Big Red improved to 15-2 for the season and 3-0 in conference play, while the Little Giants dropped to 9-6 overall and 0-2 in NCAC play.
Up Next: Denison hosts Case Western and Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, April 11. The Big Red will take on the Spartans at 12 p.m. and at 5 p.m. will host the Battling Bishops.
No. 3 Denison 7 vs. Wabash 0
The Big Red took control of the match early, sweeping the doubles matches to put Denison up 1-0 heading into singles play.
Chika Nwaozuzu and
Jacob Patterson notched the first win of the afternoon with a court two victory over Wabash's Tharakesh Ashokar and Cole Shifferly, beating the pair 6-3. Soon after
Andreas Chapides and
Anthony Payiavlas defeated Ethan Koneman and Vittorio Bona 6-4 on court three. Completing the doubles sweep was Denison duo,
Ethan Green and
Kael Shah, who beat the Little Giants' Augusto Ghidini and Rafael Rin 6-2.
In singles play, Denison efficiently extended its lead to four to clinch its third NCAC victory of the season. Shah opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Wabash's Rafael Rin on court two; soon after, Green beat Shifferly 6-3, 6-3 on court one. Patterson would secure the fourth point of the day after defeating Tharaksh Ashokar 6-4, 6-3 on court three. Mason Conlin defeated Wabash's Ghidini 6-2, 6-4 on court four, followed by Payiavlas securing a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Maksymillian Domanski on court five. The final victory of the afternoon came on court six, where Nwaozuzu held off Vittorio Bona in a 7-5, 6-4 decision.

David Schilling shared, "It was a long weekend (for us). We began the weekend by hosting an alumni reunion and a big match on Saturday versus a national power, No. 11 Trinity University (Texas). Â And then has a quick turnaround today with a four-hour drive - so again, challenging conditions. Â Our guys did a good job of handling business, and we got solid wins through the lineup.
