Madison, Wis.- The No. 23 Denison women's tennis team finishes up action at the Midwest Invitational in a battle for bronze with No. 33 Gustavus-Adolphus Gusties. In the opening day action, the Gusties took down No. 43 Hope in the quarterfinals and fell to No. 21 Luther in the semifinals. Gustavus came out victorious in a 5-2 decision. The Big Red took 4th place in the tournament.

Up Next: Denison will travel back to Granville and pick up their NCAC gauntlet starting on Wednesday with Kenyon. Next weekend, the Big Red will host Wittenberg and Ohio Wesleyan, as well as Capital for an out-of-conference matchup.

 3rd Place Match (Denison 2, Gustavus 5)
The Big Red fell in their final match of the Midwest Invitational. Gustavus jumped to an early 1-0 lead after collecting two of three doubles matches. Caitlin VanWinkle and Dasha Chistyakova were able to pull out a victory. Charlotte Johns and Caroline Lopez took their opponent to a tiebreaker, ultimately coming up just a touch short.

In singles, the Gusties were able to collect three wins in a row to secure the match victory. Sophomore Dasha Chistyakova was able to take down her opponent in straight sets to earn Denison their first point of the match. Senior Caroline Kittle split the first two sets with her opponent. In the tiebreaker match, Kittle pulled away in a 10-6 tiebreaking victory to tack on one final point in the loss to close the score at 5-2. This marks Kittle's 6th straight singles victory, moving her singles record to 10-3 on the season.
