Granville, Ohio — The No. 15 Denison University men's lacrosse team rolled to a 20-4 victory over Wabash College on Saturday afternoon at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. With the win, the Big Red improve to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in NCAC play.
After surrendering the opening goal, Denison responded with seven straight to close out the first quarter. Collin Murphy evened the score before Macky Peck took over, scoring twice in the first and finishing with a career-high six points on four goals and two assists. The Big Red led 7-1 after the first and never looked back.
The second quarter saw more of the same, as Denison outscored the Little Giants 7-1 in the frame to take a commanding 14-2 lead at the half. Jack Hines tallied two goals and two assists, while Tommy Quinson dished out four assists and added a goal, finishing with five points on a team-high 11 shots. Kevin Berutich netted the first of his three goals, and Lawton Corrigan, Liam Gillard, and Drew Merschel all added scores to keep the pressure on.
In the third quarter, Berutich added two more goals—both assisted by Quinson, and Peck added his fourth goal of the day. The Big Red defense remained sharp, limiting Wabash to a single third-quarter goal.
Denison closed out the win with four more goals in the fourth, including another from Corrigan, and solo tallies by Charlie Maloney and Anthony Savoy.
The Big Red outshot Wabash 65-14 overall, including a 34-8 margin in shots on goal. Denison dominated ground balls (50-19), went a perfect 14-for-14 on clear attempts, and completely controlled the faceoff with a 26-2 advantage.
Macky Peck led the way for Denison with four goals and two assists, while Tommy Quinson added a goal and four assists for a five-point afternoon and Jack Hines contributed two goals and two assists.
