Granville, Ohio- The No. 28 Denison women's tennis team honored their three seniors on Saturday with wins against Wooster and Ohio Northern on Saturday. Following the senior day ceremony before the match with the Fighting Scots, the Big Red dominated in a 7-0 decision. Later in the afternoon, Denison took down to the Polar Bears by a score of 6-1, extending their win streak to six and closing the regular season with a record of 15-6.

Up Next: The Big Red will have a break before competing in the North Coast Athletic Conference championship tournament next weekend. Denison will be the second seed in the tournament

Match 1 (Denison 7, Wooster 0)

In doubles, the Big Red were led by the three seniors in a clean sweep of the Fighting Scots. Seniors Caroline Lopez, Elizabeth Hoo, and Caroline Kittle each manned their own pair joined by Charlotte Johns, Anna Leach, and Lexi McCall respectively. The trio of pairs won the first point of the match by a combined score of 18-2.

In singles, Caroline Kittle, Caroline Lopez, and Ariana Rodriguez won their matches in straight shutout sets. Elizabeth Hoo and Anna Leach also picked up straight set victories by the score of 6-0 and 6-1. In the last match against the Fighting Scots, Charlotte Johns took down her opponent in the first set before dropping the second. In the tiebreaker, Jagannathan took Johns down to the wire but Johns ultimately toppled her opponent in a 11-9 decision to secure Denison's fifth straight 7-0 match victory.

Match 2 (Denison 6, Ohio Northern 1)

The Big Red had their hands full in doubles but came out with a sweep of the Polar Bears to secure the 1-0 lead. The duos of Peyton Oda and Maia Nowicki and Caroline Lopez and Dasha Chistyakova both won by 6-3 decisions. Caroline Kittle and Caitlin VanWinkle had a close call in their match, giving a hint of momentum up but ultimately won in a 6-4 decision.
 

In singles, the Big Red were able to melt the Polar Bears in through multiple hard fought battles. After Caroline Lopez and Dasha Chistyakova made easy work of their opponents to take a commanding 3-0 lead, the other four courts found themselves in down to the wire battles. In a blur, Peyton Oda had her opponent's back to the wall with a 5-0 lead in set two, just one point away from securing the deciding fourth point. In unison, Caitlin VanWinkle, Charlotte Johns, and Caroline Kittle froze on their court, watching to see if the match would be secured. Oda took the win and moved Denison's final regular season record to 15-6. While Kittle fell in her second set, VanWinkle and Johns cruised in a 10-point tiebreaker, dismantling their opponents in the final set to send the Big Red into the conference tournament with momentum.
