In the Big Red's second matchup, Denison took on No. 26 Carnegie Mellon. Despite the 6-1 result, the Big Red fought for its emphatic win in singles. With various new pairings in doubles play, Denison found themselves up 1-0 quickly following doubles play.
Duo

Clinching the victory for the Big Red was
Nick Meyers on court four, who beat his Carnegie opponent 7-3, 7-6 (7-4) on court four. The final two matches were straight-set wins by Conlin and Payiavlas, giving Denison a definitive 6-1 victory over Carnegie Mellon.Â
Following its matchup against Carnegie Mellon, head coach
David Schilling shared some of his thoughts. "Â Â "We were short one of our key players today in
Andreas Chapides, but our team did a great job of picking up the slack. Â Mason (Conlin) and Anthony (Payiavlas) provided us with big wins, which we needed. Â Anthony was also a key sub for us today in doubles, coupling with
Nick Meyers to get a huge win at #3 doubles. Â It is now time to shift our focus to our big NCAC Match on Wednesday vs. #7 Kenyon. Â No time to read our press clippings; we have to get a couple of good days of practice in preparation for Kenyon."
