Granville, Ohio- Finishing their weekend in Cleveland, the No. 4 Denison men's tennis team tacked on two more wins, defeating Washington & Lee 5-2, before returning to Granville on Sunday and beating The College of Wooster 7-0. The Big Red improved to 13-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Generals dropped to 5-4, and the Fighting Scots fell to 6-5 and 0-1 in NCAC matches.
Up Next: Denison is back in Granville, Ohio, for their Alumni Match against No. 11 Trinity University (Texas). The Big Red and the Tigers take to the courts on Saturday, April 5, at noon.
Match 1- No. 4 Denison vs No. 21 Washington and Lee
Denison men's tennis seemed to find its stride early in the 5-2 victory over No. 21 W&L. In doubles play,
Kael Shah and
Ethan Green earned their 22nd doubles win of the season after defeating Ryan Good and Will Kistler 6-2 on court one.
Andreas Chapides and
Nick Meyers would secure the Big Red's first point of the day with a 6-3 win over W&L's Evan Erb and Sanjheec Rao on court three.
With a one-point advantage, Denison would quickly extend its lead to four after
Ethan Green,
Jacob Patterson, and
Nick Meyers took down their opponents in straight sets.
Andreas Chapides would tack on a fifth victory after defeating Heys Parker 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
The Generals earned two wins for the day, and Evan Erb fought hard for a 4-6, 6-3, 1- (12-10) victory over
Kael Shah on court one. The second win of the day for W&L was on court six, when Sanjheev Rao shut down a comeback by
Anthony Payiavlas, beating him 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).
"It was a good way to complete the Ohio Invitational," head men's tennis coach
David Schilling shared. "We went 3-0 versus three ranked teams- so we can feel it was a success. It was, however, tough playing a match at 8 a.m. after a long doubleheader yesterday, but the guys have a lot of grit and heart. I'm proud of their effort."

Match 2 - No. 4 Denison vs Wooster
Despite having to travel back from Cleveland this morning, the Denison Big Red showed off its depth with some fresh legs against the College of Wooster.
Denison made quick work of doubles play, sweeping all three of the doubles matches and giving up just three points across the three courts.
Ethan Green and
Andreas Chapides defeated Anthony VanOyen and Arnav Yadav 6-0 on court one. On court two,
Nick Meyers and
Chika Nwaozuzu beat Ian Royse and Max Stratford 6-1, and completing the doubles sweep on court three were
Kyle Patrick and
Archie Turner, who beat the Fighting Scots Dickerson and Wood 6-2.
The Big Red quickly pulled away in singles matches.
Chika Nwaozuzu completed his match first, defeating Bennett Dickerson 6-0, 6-0, on court four. On court one,
Ethan Green would then take down his opponent, Anthony VanOyen, 6-1, 6-1. Up 3-0, Denison needed just one more match to win the afternoon, however, courts two and three wrapped their matches at the same time, giving the Big Red a definitive victory.
Andreas Chapides defeated Arnav Yadav 6-1, 6-2; simultaneously, Mason Conflin beat Ian Royse in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-1. In the final two matches of the day
Kyle Patrick and
Archie Turner defeated their respective opponents in straight sets, securing a 7-0 victory over Wooster for its second conference win of the spring season.
