Big Red Close Spring Break Trip with 8-1 Victory Over TCNJ

Winter Haven, Fla.- The No. 7 Denison Big Red baseball squad closed out their spring break trip with a Saturday battle against the Lions from The College of New Jersey(TCNJ). The Big Red finished the week with an 8-1 victory, dropping TCNJ to 9-7 and rising to 15-3 on the year.

Up Next: Denison will have a healthy week's long break before opening up conference play on Saturday, March 29, with a doubleheader against the Owls from Kenyon College.

The Big Red rattled off their sixth win in a row, going a perfect 5-0 during their trip to Florida. Denison found themselves in a hole early, struggling to find a pace against TCNJ's senior righty Jackson Malouf. Malouf retired the first six Dension batters in a row. TCNJ recorded a sacrifice fly into right field to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Alex Vasquez knotted things up in the fourth, scoring Max Fishbein with an RBI single to center. Denison got the ball rolling with a string of base hits in the fifth and seventh innings, scoring seven unanswered runs to secure the victory. Eric Colaco, Erik Sundgren, Jake Blozy, and Andrew Fazio drove in runs for the Big Red. Fishbein drove in an RBI off of his second double of the day. Colaco, Sundgren, and Fishbein went 2-4 on the day, and Fazio went 2-3. Sundgren led the day with 3 RBIs.

Nick Falter got the win for the Big Red on the bump, going 7.0 innings and striking out nine batters. This is his fifth win of the year. Eron Vega and Manny Nager threw an inning a piece in relief. The staff allowed just three hits and two walks.
