Winter Haven, Fla: The No. 7 Denison Big Red baseball team was back in action with a doubleheader on Friday. Coming off of two statement victories, Denison squared off against No. 19 Rutgers-Camden in the morning slot and then Saint John's University in the afternoon slot. In game one, the Big Red took down the 11-4 Scarlet Raptors in an 8-0 decision. This marks Denison's third straight-ranked win. In game two, Denison conquered the Saint Johns Johnnies by a decision of 15-4, dropping them to 8-6. With one game left for the spring break trip, the Big Red will head into Saturday with a 13-3 record.

Game 1: (Denison 8, Rutgers-Camden 0)
In game one, Denison collected their third consecutive ranked win with a shutout victory over Rutgers-Camden.
Erik Sundgren continued to be a run machine for the offense, adding two more RBIs to his season total. The Big Red grabbed a run in the first and fifth innings, but the bats exploded in the sixth to tack on five more runs. A triple from
Carson Hermann, a double by
Alex Vasquez, and a two-run homer for
Jack Lutte propelled the breakaway inning. This home run marks Lutte's first of the season. Sundgren snagged another RBI in the ninth inning to seal the 8-0 victory.
The defense was bulletproof, allowing zero runs and recording zero errors. Junior righty
Will Rettig collected his second win of the season, going 8.0 innings. In his bout with the Scarlet Raptors, Rettig sat down eight batters via strikeout and recorded just one walk. Senior
Ryan Starr closed it down, striking out three straight batters to secure the victory.
Game 2: (Denison 15, Saint John's 4)
The offense kept the ball rolling in game two, driving in 15 runs on 16 hits.
Erik Sundgren continued to dominate, mashing his ninth home run of the year. He is tied for second in all Division III for home runs on the season. Additionally, Sundgren tacked on six RBIs, bringing his team-leading total to 36 on the year.
Eric Colaco went 3-5 at the plate, and
Jack Lutte went 2-3. Nine of the ten players that got an at-bat for Denison recorded hits.
The Big Red used five arms to take down the Johnnies.
Ryan Paganelis got his first career start and was supported by
Jack Rollo,
Ryan Starr,
Eron Vega, and
Liam Eliot.
Jack Rollo earned the win, and the group combined for seven strikeouts and allowed just four hits. The defense was perfect in the field, recording zero errors.
